AMMC's Nelson Named Ambulatory Care Unit Coordinator

Arkansas Methodist Medical Center’s Kim Nelson, RN, has recently been promoted to serve as the Unit Coordinator of Ambulatory Care Services at AMMC. Ambulatory Care offers state-of-the-art care for healthy patients who require minor surgery. Providing convenience and cost savings, one-day surgery allows for patients to receive minor surgery with minimal interruption to personal or business schedules. Patients can be admitted in the morning, undergo surgery and return home all in the same day. No overnight stay is needed.
According to AMMC Chief Nursing Officer Debra Vassar, RN, "We are pleased to have Kim move into this role and we know her years of experience will truly be an asset to the Ambulatory Care Department."
Nelson started at AMMC in 1987. She has served the hospital in a variety of positions including management for approximately 16 years, the Unit Coordinator of Inpatient Rehabilitation and as a staff nurse in the Emergency Department. She is a graduate of Arkansas State University with an Associate Degree in Nursing.
Kim has three children and four grandchildren.
