Shay Willis April 24, 2012

Arkansas Methodist Medical Center Pharmacist Chris Duty, Pharm.D., BCPS recently received board certification in Pharmacotherapy through the Board of Pharmacy Specialties.

Chris Duty has been employed with AMMC for seven years and serves as the Pharmacy Clinical Coordinator and Assistant Director of Pharmacy. Duty received his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry in 1998 and a Master of Science in Chemistry in 2000, both from Arkansas State University. He received his Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 2004 from the UAMS College of Pharmacy. Chris serves on various teams at AMMC including co-leading the AMMC Patient Re-admission Team.

Dr. Duty has been selected to present a continuing education program at the Arkansas Society of Hospital Pharmacists fall seminar this September in Little Rock. His topic will cover Hospital Pharmacy Pearls including treatment of hyponatremia, vancomycin dosing and small hospital budget challenges.

The Board of Pharmacy Specialties is recognized as the single agency that operates across the pharmacy profession to provide specialty certification of pharmacists. Board certification is a way of demonstrating to society that an individual possesses a certain level of expertise. It signifies that an individual pharmacy specialist possesses a body of knowledge skill in advance to a general practitioner.
