Coronary Artery Calcium Scoring (CACS)
This is a CT exam of the heart, and more specifically the four major coronary arteries in the heart. This allows the physician to look for any plaque that may be blocking blood flow to the heart. In the past, the best way to see these arteries was a cardiac catheterization, which required a short hospital stay. The CACS scan takes about twenty seconds. The exam is safe, painless with no recovery time or side affects.
